Sweet Corn Chicken Soup for the Sore Throat



This is one of the Dadi Ma Ke Gharelu Nuskhe for curing sore throat .

Neither my Ayi (Paternal Grand Mom) nor my Mama (Maternal Grand Mom) consumed chicken but it’s like a rule and it’s a fact. They can’t fall sick.

Subsequently, many would agree that chicken soup and a hot cup of ginger tea will help you clear your nasal congestion and clear your throat to a lot extent. It can also help in reducing the head ache . Also recent studies have shown that chicken has huge antibiotic properties and can be a great benefit for people suffering from sinuses.


So let’s see what you will need for the Chicken Soup

100 grams chopped chicken breast'
100 grams sweet corn ground coarsely
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp corn flour mixed with 2 tbsp water
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp garlic crushed (more the garlic, better is the result)
1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
Salt to taste
4 cups of water
1 tbsp crèam (optional)

Steps to Make:

Heat butter in a deep pan.
Add garlic and cook till it turns brown.
Add chicken and cook till it turns white from pink and then turns light brown.
Add sweet corn, 4 cups of water, tomato puree and mix.
Bring it to boil.
Reduce flame, add corn flour mix, salt to taste, pepper and soy sauce.
Mix and keep cooking on low flame till the soup is thick and you get a desired consistency.
Stop the flame and add cream at the end.
Serve hot. For garnishing, add some chopped spring onion leaf and whole corn


Other Methods to cure sore throat :

1.       Mix ½ tsp freshly ground pepper with 1 tbsp honey and swallow it. Don’t drink water for 25 to 30 minutes. The pepper will stick to throat and kill the virus to a great extent.

2.       Heat 1 tbsp pure ghee over flame. Add ½ tsp turmeric powder to it and swallow immediately. The turmeric has huge anti-septic qualities. It also helps to cure core throat to a great extent. Don’t drink water for 25 to 30 minutes

3.       Mix ½ tsp turmeric and 1 tbsp honey to 1 cup of hot milk. Drink the milk hot. Don’t drink anything cold including water after that.

4.       Take handful of Basil leaf and ½ inch ginger, crush in mortal and pestel till you can extract its juice. Mix honey to it and swallow.

5.       To your morning tea, add ginger and basil leaves. It will increase your stamina to fight virus for a long time.

6.      Finally, the Ram Baan Illaj (Sure Shot Treatment) is to Gargle hot water with a pinch of salt 4 to 5 times a day. I don’t have to tell you to use drinking water instead of tap water for this.
