The world of food blogging has reached such great heights that simple recipes hardly find any place in the blog of a food blogger. Though, the original post of Mushroom Masala was written way back somewhere in 2009, I have decided to remodel my blog and replace my old pictures with new ones. Well, may be 5 years down the line, if I am still blogging, I might replace this picture and the below recipe with improvised version. For now, I am going slow and steady, picking one recipe at a time, doing my research and if it comes good or better, it is penned down here.
500 gm button mushroom cut into half. Keep the mushroom size big as they tend to reduce in size when cooked
2 big onion chopped
1 tomato chopped
1 tsp red chili powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
6-8 garlic pods crushed
1/2 inch ginger crushed
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 green chili chopped
freshly chopped coriander/cilantro leaves for garnishing
2 eggs (optional) - To be broken and cooked after mushrooms are cooked
Steps To Make:
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, green chilies and onion.
As onion turns brown, add garlic and ginger.
Add tomatoes, all spices and cook for 4 minutes.
Add a splash of water if spices become too dry.
Add Mushrooms . Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Open lid, add salt and cook for 4-5 minutes.
Sprinkle coriander/cilantro leaves and serve hot with Chapatti
